Thoughts Before Drowning At The Memory Extraction Facility

The water closes over their head. It's cold and suffocating, a dark abyss threatening to consume them entirely. S/He struggles to stay afloat, their mind racing with a torrent of thoughts and memories. The memory extraction facility promises a new beginning, a chance to erase their painful past and forge a brighter future. But now, as the water envelops them, doubt gnaws at the edges of their consciousness.

S/He fights to keep their head above water, their body heavy with the weight of their own regrets. S/He feels being pulled under, sinking deeper into the murky depths. Panic wells up inside them, a realization that s/he might never resurface. But with a burst of energy, s/he kicks towards the surface, their limbs flailing desperately. Their lungs scream for oxygen, and their heart races, a relentless drumbeat in the darkness.

Finally, with a surge of determination, s/he breaks through the water, gasping for air. It's a fleeting moment of triumph, a stolen breath in the face of imminent suffocation. As s/he clings to the surface, trembling and disoriented, s/he feels a surge of relief and gratitude wash over them. S/He has survived, at least for now.

As s/he swims to shore, their thoughts swirl like the eddies in the water.

Reaching the shore, s/he staggers onto solid ground, their body trembling from the ordeal. The memory extraction facility's sterile facade seems less inviting now, a beacon of false promises.

With each step away from the facility, s/he makes their decision. S/He will confront their memories. The water has nearly claimed them, but it has also washed away the illusion of a quick escape from the past.
