At the research outpost the staff is searching for answers.

The presence of gravity greatly complicates the scrutiny.

"You know I've really been wondering about where the combination of technology and cynicism will take us."

It is a strange world orbiting a strange star. They had a hunch that might be the case, which is why authorities have chosen this planet for the elevation experiments. The star is superhot, so hot it looks blue. It is not perfectly round, but larger and cooler at its equator than at the poles. It is spinning around so fast that it is being pulled outwards at its equator. The perfect condition for elevation.

"How did it come into this world?"

"There are no true records."

"Have you asked yourself that?"

"I've considered that, but I've also considered that there's only one right thing to do."

"It has to belong to someone."

"Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

"Because I couldn't believe it."

"I should have declined."

"Then why are you here?"

"Excuse me, I'm looking for the special needs ward."

In a room with a window to the hall, the doctor hovers over them.

S/He is laying on a table that goes inside the round MRI or whatever machine. A part of the machine comes out and covers their head and the table goes into the machine. S/He watches the whole thing. The machine whirls, lights up, and blasts quick loud gun blast type sounds. S/He flinches.

"How is s/he?"

"Well, we've put her on a saline drip to rehydrate her. S/He 's running a fever."

"Do you know what's causing it?

"Some kind of infection, probably related to the cyst on her neck."

"I'm having it byopsied.

The doctor swabs the cyst with alcohol. The doctor's just ready to cut it out.

The cyst explodes and green blood flows out down their back.
