A small incident in the fabric of time

and space mysteriously transformed Bas Jan Ader into a work of art in the middle of the sea.

He turned into a circular dome-like object, with a radius of 12 m, made of non-washable, non-heat-resistant material.

It consists of preformed matrices and reinforced rings. The form is schematised. The preformed matrices provide ease in reconstructing contact points. The object alternates between real and sensual. A distinction between the two is not always obvious. Strictly speaking, the object separates something from something else.

A plate on the back bears the following Klingon inscription:

"ghIq yabDaj Dotlh 'ach loQ vIHoH"

S/He takes the object home and feels harassed by it.

S/He starts rummaging. S/He hides the item.

S/He is hungry.

S/He answers a message.

"It will be an ongoing collaboration. It’s a very great environment to be creating in, everyone’s open to new things and everyone’s understanding of each other’s ideas. It will be incredibly exciting to work with them.”
