Q&A

  • Do you recycle? All the materials are part of an ongoing cycle of decay and creation.
  • Will it make some noise? yes
  • How did you start? I was asked to provide a description for one of my artworks. So I created some fiction.  Due to curfew I had lots of time. Suddenly I saw the potential for something bigger. Now I am intrigued by the fact that with The Visitors I am literally able to incorporate anything which comes to my mind. I never had that feeling with previous works.
  • Why do you use s/he as a pronoun? Language is constitutive for reality.
  • What is the idea behind? It is the acceptance of the other. The Visitors make the anti-anthropocene palatable. The Visitors is shaped by a sense of data excess and vulnerability by technology. It introduces context as an artistic material.
  • Is this a novel? No, I write because I want to use non-linear storytelling as a context for my objects. I use text as material, like I use paper, new media/technology in general or even ideas.
  • How do you layout your sceneries? It is all makeshift and improvisation. I strive for approximation not for perfection.
  • Why? I am interested in concepts which cannot be realised, technically not economically. It is the question "what if" which drives me.
  • What is your motto? Yes.
  • Will there be a book? Hopefully, as soon as I get funding. Any ideas?
